As I write this president’s message, I am reminded of the “We Love Arabian Horses” group that I recently joined. Mother Lode is about the Arabian horse community, promoting our breed and sponsoring events that bring horse enthusiasts together.
We are facing some big obstacles as an organization in terms of leadership. Financially our club is sound. But a very small group of members have participated on the board for many years to keep our club going. We want to bring you more events and celebrate our community but we need you!
We need more members to take the Arabian horse love forward and keep it alive and we need more members willing to participate on the Board.
For many that may sound like a scary proposition, especially with other family and professional commitments. Six meetings a year, optional volunteer opportunities throughout the year, and your chance to make a difference for our club.
Join us on September 20th at our club meeting and bring your love for our breed, your ideas, and your energy to help keep our club vital. The meeting is at 6 p.m. at El Agave Taqueria, 1285 Grass Valley Hwy., Auburn.
I’d also like to thank Sarah J. Smith, NATRC executive director, and JayaMae Gregory from Lightfoot Horse Farm for providing articles this month that our members will find informative as well as enjoyable. It’s wonderful to support each other’s organizations, especially through our love of the Arabian breed.
